British Commercial Voiceover Actor
A commercial voiceover has one job: make people pay attention, trust the message and act on it.
I’m James Brown, an award-winning British male voiceover actor with a warm, natural RP delivery. I record commercials for television, radio, online video, paid social and branded campaigns from my professional studio in Devon.
My approach is conversational rather than announcer-heavy. I want your audience to feel they’re being spoken to, not sold at.
A Natural British Voice for Commercials
The right commercial read depends on the audience, brand and platform. Some scripts need warmth and reassurance. Others need pace, confidence, humour or a little edge.
My commercial work typically suits brands looking for a voice that feels:
- warm and trustworthy
- natural and conversational
- confident without sounding pushy
- polished but still human
- clear, intelligent and engaging
My background in broadcast journalism taught me how to find the thought behind the words and make scripted copy feel immediate and believable.
Commercial Voiceover for TV, Radio and Online Advertising
I record commercial voiceovers for:
- TV commercials
- radio advertising
- online video
- YouTube advertising
- paid social campaigns
- Meta, Instagram and TikTok ads
- branded films
- product launches
- promotional campaigns
If your campaign will run as paid advertising, I can also help clarify the usage and licensing requirements before recording. I also provide corporate voiceover for branded films and business communications.
British Male Voiceover with a Natural RP Accent
My natural accent is contemporary RP: recognisably British, clear and neutral without sounding overly formal.
That makes it particularly useful for brands that want a British voice with authority and credibility while still sounding approachable.
I can move between relaxed, understated reads and more energetic commercial performances depending on the brief.
Fast, Broadcast-Quality Recording
All voiceovers are recorded in my professional treated studio using broadcast-quality equipment.
For most commercial projects I can provide:
- fast turnaround
- clean, edited audio
- WAV or MP3 delivery
- live remote direction if required
- one round of reasonable performance pickups
- help with script wording where needed
Commercial Voiceover Usage and Licensing
Commercial voiceover rates usually depend on two things: the recording fee and how the finished advert will be used.
Organic website or social use is different from paid advertising, television or large-scale digital campaigns.
If you send me the script, campaign length, territory and intended media, I can give you a clear quote without making the licensing unnecessarily complicated. You can also read more on my Pricing page.

Commercial Voiceover FAQs
How quickly can you record a commercial voiceover?
For most short commercial scripts, I can normally provide finished audio within 24 hours once the final script and brief are agreed.
Can I direct the session live?
Yes. Remote direction is available if you or your creative team would like to listen and direct the performance during the recording.
What does commercial voiceover usage mean?
Usage refers to where the advert will appear, for how long and in which territory. Paid advertising generally requires a licence in addition to the basic recording fee.
Can you record different versions or cutdowns?
Yes. I regularly record alternative takes, shorter cutdowns, end-line variations and different versions for campaigns.
Can you help make the script sound more natural?
Yes. I have extensive writing and broadcast experience and can suggest small changes where a line feels awkward when spoken.
